Well, as the rest of the country struggles to deal with this brutal heat wave, the Alaska Pasko's will be embarking on a long ass road trip to the Arctic Circle!
As some of you already know, I was recently offered a job in Toronto. And while I make no secret of the fact that it is not at all my first choice of Canadian cities, I'm still very happy to be going. It'll probably be the better part of a year before I go, but it will happen.
Anyway, there is a very good chance that this summer will be my last in Alaska. So with time running out and the fact that I'll likely never be this close again, I have to make this run to the Arctic Circle! For those who are curious, we plan on taking the Dalton Highway (as seen on Ice Road Truckers) and stopping after we pass the Brooks Range. That'll put us about 150 miles shy of the Arctic Ocean which is ok because the road ends 8 miles before you actually get there....and this is not a hiking trip. We're leaving around 5pm local time today and will be back late on Sunday.
For all you poor bastards living down south, I feel for each of you - especially those of you who will be in 100+ degree areas! Godspeed to all of you!
